  • Words that I love to hear when they are said with a thick Boston accent: "Martha", "heart".
  • 3 cool word sites: Wordie, Online Etymology Dictionary, OneLook search.
  • What do you read, my lord? Words
  • I'm the lyrical gangsta (word'em up)
The first point was all I really wanted to say. The rest is fluff because you can't write a one line blog post.

My morning commute was pretty hectic today. Sullivan station was flooded with cops, emergency vehicles, news vans and confused bus drivers. No one really knew what was going on. Was it a bomb? Were there hostages in the station? Why couldn't we stand at our usual bus stops?

Later on, we found out what had happened. The Globe reported "Sullivan Square Object Neutralized!" I know that I shouldn't laugh, but I snorted a little when I pictured the bomb squad detonating wacky Aqua Teen paraphernelia.

Man, my grandparents and other newspaper readers from a different generation will think that things have gone horribly wrong when they read the headlines tonight. Here is one journalists's (accurate) summary of the program: "The show follows the misadventures of a carton of french fries, a milkshake and a wad of hamburger meat who live together in a run-down suburban house."

(Oh - and don't tell anyone that these surprise packages went unnoticed for 2 weeks)

...Chris just sent me this link, it's got a few funny pics: http://blog.lolzllc.com/2007/01/bombs-in-boston-actually-ads-for-adult-swim. Umm. soo, these were actually not bundled up or obscured in any way? They were obviously that weird green pixel guy from Aqua Teen that has been on a couple big billboards lately? That's embarrassing :(

Jess and I have been all over the place trying to find a Nintendo Wii. Everwhere we went, we were too late - lines at the doors were bigger than the supply. I thought I was being smart by trying something other than Best Buy and Target (Microcenter on Memorial Drive in Cambridge). Nope - other people were way ahead of me.

The funny thing is that I have no idea why I'm so excited about this. I haven't been into video games for years...

I got 4 hours sleep last night and I'm tired.

update: crap crap crap. I managed to grab one during the 45 seconds that they were available on Amazon and when I (stupidly) changed the shipping method after the order, the ship date change to mid-January. aaargh.

:) The Amazon ship date changed back to normal. Wii on Tuesday!

earfeeder is cool. Let it scan your iTunes and it will produce a feed which contains up to date tour announcements, album releases, etc for artists that your care about.

...and here is Jess doing her Reed Richards impression

Two more reasons why you shouldn't knock it until you've tried it:
* Wormwood, Gentleman Corpse. A comic.
* Blood and Sand. A drink.

Please note: mixing whiskey and Ben Templesmith's art before bed is not recommended.

I've only been posting little nothings lately - it's not that I don't have things to share or report, I just haven't had the urge to type things out. I do want to say that I turned 29 on Saturday and my wife and friends made sure that I had a super birthday. (Thanks guys!!)

A pretty good dessert drink:

  • ice
  • 1-2 ice cream sandwiches (leave the cookie part on)
  • Rum. I used plain ol' Bacardi.
  • A handful of marshmallows. You could use fluff, but then there wouldn't be any chunks.
  • Hershey's chocolate syrup. Apply liberally.
  • A smidge of milk
  • (optional) perhaps some walnuts or almonds? I couldn't find any.
Throw all that shit in a blender.
Re-enact Pirates of the Caribbean lines involving "rum" as you pour.
Whirrr! Dump it into some of those old fashioned ice cream shoppe frappe glasses.
Enjoy.

A pretty good album:

  • 2K6 - The Tracks : Yep, it's the soundtrack to a video game (NBA 2006, at that). All kinds of good hip hop on here - Lyrics Born, Blackalicous, The Roots, Aesop Rock, Hieroglyphics...

A pretty good philosophy:

Although I have turned to the Dark Side as of late, I still like many of these sentiments: http://blindwino.com/splain.html. "Yankee go home" doesn't really do anything for me but there are a few things that have made my 'rules to live by' list. Note that my 'rules to live by' list isn't binding ;)

  • Stop being afraid of everything.
  • Nobody knows anything. Everyone is lying. Look out for each other.
  • Lighten the fuck up.

...and maybe a couple more

Boy am I glad that I keep this blog, it's a helpful reference. In my defense, I haven't been feeling very well today and there is a small chance that I have food poisoning.

Hey New Hampshirites - Brian Wood added a NH shirt to his lineup. Beats your boring UNH tee and it's printed on a nice shirt to boot. "Live free or die" on the back... Check it out at northernboy.biz.

agh - where have I been?

I had a great weekend in Baltimore. I wish that I could rewind and replay Friday and Saturday. Sunday was good too but it was hard to make it through the day with half a brain and a severe lack of sleep. I've got pictures to post and things to say but (once again) it's time for bed... (Note to self - sort out the photos and set up Lightbox or some other suitable display thingy)

jasmine hookah and pernod...
