Egads. It's been a very busy weekend so far. Jessica's parents are visiting so we've had more activities planned than usual. We just got back from the Eric Clapton show at Great Woods (aka "Tweeter Center") I had a great time - we even ran into my Mom and her friends. They were sitting a few sections away from us (which was pretty amazing since the place is *huge*). I am dead tired right now because I'm operating on 4 hours sleep and the remaining vapors from a Friday night of way too much drinking.

I hung out at Jessica's brother's apartment last night and his Parisian roommate and his friends invited us out to a couple parties that they were going to. I think that the first was a birthday party for another Frenchman. We stayed for a little bit, ran into a girl named Benedicta who knows Jess (whoa!?) and had a few shots of (ugh) tequila. I am quite sure that the second place was having an 80s themed party. (Hey girls from the 80's party - your costumes were awesome!) I was wearing my street clothes so I was feeling a little bad about not having a festive costume. The 4 French guys that we went out with wore very tight soccer shirts and tapered jeans. I guess the 80's were a bit different in France.

I am pretty shy around new people. I always think that having a few drinks at a party will make it easier to make friends but I usually just end up being sheepish, slurry and clumsy. It's a wonder that anyone talks to me at all while I am staring at my shoes and slurring. At one point I found myself down the street talking to some neighbors that were drinking on their porch and trying to convince them that I am not creepy. Dear cute and friendly hostesses, um. Amy (right?) and um a cute dark-haired girl with a cool costume involving a leopard print skirt. was it Anna Maria? no. I don't think so. doh. Anyway - thanks for being nice to me. Oh, and the girl with the green 80's working woman power suit thing that you found at the thrift store - you were cool and sweet too.

PS - I always feel like a dork when people ask me about my job.

Them : So - what do you do?
Me : Computer stuff. I write software mostly...
Them : Cool. Where do you work.
Me : Ken's Foods
Them : (blank stare)
Me : We make salad dressing and other stuff.
Them : (looking around to see if there is anyone more interesting to talk to)
Me : It's a food company. Kinda.
Them : ooooh. (feigns interest)
Me : um. sigh. Where's the beer?

The wedding was out of this world. There was more food there to feed 3 times the number of attendees. There was open bar the entire wedding. It was the most extravagant event I have ever been to. Seriously. I...

Why be ashamed you work at Kens? That is a business that is an American success story. Ken took that company and started with a little restaurant in Framingham, and worked his a** off to build it into a HUGE corporation that employ's hundreds (If not thousands) and ships Dressings and Mayo and other condiments all over the world. Its a true American success story. How do I know this? My Dad is one of Ken's tractor trailer drivers and has been for years. I don't know if you know any of the drivers but his name is Bruce and he drives 2-4 day trips for them. He is home two days a week for a day or half day and then is gone again. We are very proud of him and of Ken's, and we even make sure to buy Ken's products when we go to the grocery store. I am out there in Marlboro at Ken's all the time either to drop my Dad off or pick him up and I am always very proud to pull in there and see all the people who are employed there, as well as all the trucks that are waiting in line to be loaded or unloaded. Also Ken's recently purchased new trucks and designed a new logo for their trailers and trucks that promotes their brands in a bigger fashion. I hate to say it but you should always be proud of where you work, if you aren't then you honestly shouldn't be there. I for one am proud to say my dad works there, as Kens IS an American success story and to be part of it at any facet of its history is something to be proud of!
